Chad Bettes

Kansas Bioscience Authority

An award-winning public relations professional, Chad Bettes is director of marketing and communications for the Kansas Bioscience Authority, where he manages outreach efforts to advance the state’s leadership in bioscience research and business.

Mr. Bettes joined the KBA from the U.S. Department of State in Washington, DC, where he completed nearly four years of public service in two positions, most recently as senior advisor for public diplomacy for the Middle East Partnership Initiative.

He earned his master’s degree in journalism from the University of Kansas. He formerly worked as public information officer in the office of the Kansas attorney general and as an account manager for Corporate Communications Group in Overland Park. He also was marketing director of a Lenexa-based publishing company.

Mr. Bettes has served on the boards of the Health Partnership Clinic of Johnson County (Kan.) and the greater Kansas City chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). His work has earned an Angelo Scott Award from the William Allen White School of Journalism; two PRISM Awards from PRSA; and five Superior Honor Awards from the U.S. Department of State.
