Mary Cummings joined the KBA from the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce, where she served more than seven years as communications manager, including work with the Shawnee Economic Development Council, and as manager of the Shawnee Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.

Ms. Cummings formerly worked as public relations manager for Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo. She also was marketing manager for the medical communications division of an Overland Park-based national children’s health alliance.

Ms. Cummings is a graduate of the Shawnee Tomorrow leadership program and served on the city’s 2006 sesquicentennial committee. She also served as the city’s delegate to the Kansas City Regional Destination Alliance and several regional tourism associations. Her work has earned awards from the Travel Industry Association of Kansas, American Chamber of Commerce Executives, and the Missouri Hospital Association.
