Terry Osborn has contributed significantly to strong investor returns through his expertise in pharmaceutical, medical device and diagnostic businesses; research and development; and marketing management. This includes developing sales opportunities and enhancing profitability in startup, growth and turnaround environments.
Dr. Osborn joined the board of directors of present Advance Life Sciences (NASDAQ: ADLS) in July 2001. He is co-founder and a member of the board of directors of AbaStar MDx Inc., a private CNS molecular diagnostic company developing proprietary blood-based RNA gene expression tests for the accurate diagnosis of mental disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.
From July 2006 to January 2008, Dr. Osborn, as chief operating officer, reshaped a new strategic direction for WaferGen Bio-Systems, Inc. and helped take the company public (WGBS:OB), raising $12 million for continued product development. With profit-and-loss responsibility, he productized, manufactured and commercialized the innovative stem cell and primary cell computer controlled fluidics-integrated Micro-Incubator System with national tele-selling agreement and sale growth activities.
From 2002 until 2006, he was the president and CEO of Gene Express, Inc., a genomics company specializing in RT-PCR assay development in Chicago. While there, he commercialized genomic biomarker technology to blue-chip customers such as Pfizer, Amgen, Wyeth, Eli Lilly and leading universities. Pfizer and Lilly are using StaRT-PCR products in clinical trials.
From 1999 until 2002, Dr. Osborn was the CEO of Pharmaceutical Development Center, a contract formulation, development and cGMP manufacturer of biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical drugs. Earlier, he was also the co-founder, president and CEO of Health Advance Institute, a national clinical research organization providing clinical research services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. His initial R&D, clinical research, manufacturing, distribution and business experience was gained at American Hospital Supply Corporation, Eli Lilly & Company and Nichols Institute.
Dr. Osborn received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of California at Riverside and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.
